We Are All One...

"We all live within the same illusion and are, in our own way and in our own time, trying to understand the truth behind it all. Some may not be looking at the moment or even in this particular life, but ultimately we will all wake up from the dream and remember who we really are. Ultimately, we will all become one..."

Science and Consciousness

"Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature and that is because, in the last analysis, we ourselves are part of nature and therefore part of the mystery that we are trying to solve...I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness." - Max Planck(Nobel prize winner and the founder of quantum theory.)

"Science is crucial to our understanding of the universe, but like the universe, to truly understand it, there must be a balance. Those who have embraced science as the only possible method of definitively understanding the universe and who have deemed consciousness as nothing more than merely a construct of the brain and matter as absolute in it's existence, have, in effect, doomed themselves to a state of limited, unbalanced, perception. As such, they will never see anything beyond the physical and, through copious self-defeating efforts to understand our universe, will never find the answers that they seek." - Aaron Hutchins

Balancing Our Perception Of The Universe

Science is more or less the study of the physical universe around us and through science we are able to better understand the physical world. The one problem with this, however, is that even if we someday attain the ultimate understanding of that physical universe through science, it will still never explain what came before the universe or even what lies outside the universe and because of this it will never, in itself, truly, fully, explain the nature of our universe.

Viewing Our Universe From The Fourth DimensionWe live in a 3 dimensional universe and, as 3 dimensional beings within that universe, we are not able to physically see beyond the 3 dimensional space around us. In fact, we are not even able to see the 3rd dimension as it really is. Only someone who lives in the 4th dimension could do that, just as we can only actually see things in 2 dimensions. We only perceive the world around us to be 3 dimensional and not flat based on the way that light hits them and we only perceive there to be depth or distance between objects based on their apparent size. So, we can not see the higher dimensions of our reality because our 3rd dimension is encompassed within them.

Alex Grey "The Net of Being"If we could somehow break out of this universe of 3 dimensions though, then we would no doubt clearly see the reality of our 3 dimensional universe, most likely amidst an infinite sea of other 3 dimensional universes, suspended in the quantum foam of higher dimensional space(or hyper space). We can not however. We can't even imagine what it looks like. Therefore, on it's own, science can never give us the full picture of the universe. This is where the exploration of consciousness comes in.

Quantum EntanglementTo understand reality fully we must study the physical, while also exploring the universe and beyond through consciousness. If everything in the universe truly was once part of one infinitesimally small point of space called the singularity; and if subatomic particles like electrons, which permeate our bodies and everything in the universe, have been proven through "quantum entanglement"(or as Einstein called it "spooky action at a distance") to maintain their immediate connection with one another regardless of distance, then the subatomic particles that make up our brains and our bodies and that facilitate our consciousness surely still have an interconnected link to all the other subatomic particles in the universe that were once also part of that same great singularity that existed before even time itself began. It's this intertwined nature of all things, at the most fundamental levels of our existence, that can be explored through consciousness by tapping into that subatomic link that we all have with the universe itself.

Understanding Reality by Aaron Hutchins
In short, if we want to understand the physical universe and everything contained within that universe since the big bang, then we can most certainly look to science. However,  if we also want to understand what happened before the big bang or what lies outside the universe or even where the universe came from, then we must do so through our consciousness by tapping into that interconnectedness with the universe that lies within the very framework and makeup of each and every one of us, in body and mind. So, in light of these things, it would seem that the clearest picture of our universe, if not all reality, can only be found through a healthy exploration of both science and consciousness.

Why Does The Universe Exist?

This question of the origin of the universe has been on my mind more than any other in my life and the pursuit of an answer to this question is the reason I write an existential blog. I truly wish there were more individuals in the world who pondered this great mystery.

In this video philosopher Jim Holt starts his talk by asking the question, "Why does the universe exist?", and everyone laughs. Unfortunately, I think that type of response to some of life's bigger questions is a fairly common thing, as it seems we have all taught ourselves not to think too much about those things. We even convince ourselves in many cases that questions of that nature are ridiculous questions to ask, perhaps to protect ourselves from the fear of knowing or the fear of how that might potentially change the way we live and think about our lives and how we perceive our reality.

In truth though, my whole life I don't think I've ever been able to NOT think about this question because it seems so extremely crucial to our existence, so it's always truly baffled me that anyone could go through an entire lifetime without, at least at some point, contemplating this question as well. I believe it's not only perhaps the most important question we can ask ourselves as living, breathing, members of this fantastical universe, but quite possibly the only real question there is to ask...

The Most Important Truth

"Perhaps one of the most important truths about ourselves that we can realize is that every one of us is filled with the divine nature of the universe and that at the end of the great lifespan of that universe, our faults and shortcomings, and the mistakes we made on this planet, will have had absolutely no significance. Only what we have contributed, and the degree to which we have loved and allowed ourselves to embrace that unity and oneness that we have with all things in existence, will have ever made any relevant difference to the universe at all..." - Aaron Hutchins

We Are The Gods We Have Worshipped

Here's a poem I wrote today about the future of humanity and the journey of each of us to discover our own divine nature... :)

We Are The Gods We Have Worshipped

"In our dreams,
We live as Gods do;
We shape the world to our liking,
And create not just places but their faces too.

Thus, in our science,
We do just the same;
We follow those dreams to create,
And believe that those dreams we can tame.

For in our hearts,
We hear destiny's call;
We know that we will become bigger,
And understand that the Earth will become too small.

So, in our future,
We will blast lightyears beyond Mars;
We can already see we're becoming more conscious,
And how that itself will take us to the stars.

Then...like a star born from other stars,
that will one day explode outward too,
So will we travel the cosmos,
And seed it with life, as Gods do.

For the universe is filled,
with the the stuff of creation,
And being made from that stuff too,
Means we're also meant to create from the big bang's cremation.

So our dreams are not trivial,
They are the sayers of sooth;
We need only to listen,
For us to realize our own divinity's truth.

We are the Gods we have worshipped,
As the universe is made from one mind;
So all this time we've been searching,
It's been us that we've been looking to find."

Magic Is All Around Us

"The day that we truly realize that everything in the universe is made up of energy is the day that we begin to see the real existence of magic all around us and the first time that we understand that absolutely nothing is impossible." - Aaron Hutchins

Be All That You Are

Be All That You Are

I wouldn't say that I am a happy person by nature,
With every waking moment...the word "WHY" on my lips.
Aching to understand the reason for my existence.
Yearning to know the truth of all that through my fingers slips.

"You needn't worry about life," they tell me.
"Life has a way of taking care of itself."
"You are exactly what you were meant to be," they say.
"You needn't want to be more than yourself."

But I was born with this tireless curiosity.
I came into this world with this need to see.
It makes me happy to marvel at universal wonder,
And I find joy in the thought of transcending all that is "me".

I have this burning inside to reconnect with my divine nature,
But I also long to help set this whole reality free.
So perhaps those questions within me are my gift to the world.
Perhaps that curiosity is my soul's way of being all it can be.

Everything is but fluctuations of energy,
And everyone is perfect the way they are that's true,
But everyone is resonating towards the desires of their heart,
So might not that include the need to be more too?

Therefore pay no attention to the life coaching of others,
For the only advice given is for them and not you.
Just follow along with whatever your heart says,
And be all that you are...That's all you can do.

An Awakening

"To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. - Lao Tzu"

Today I awoke with a clarity of vision, an awareness of mind and a deep appreciation for everything that I have and everyone that I know. This new awareness inspired me to make this meme. Hope you like it... :)

All Answers Come From Within

I've had this idea on my mind a lot lately of looking within ourselves to find the answers to all of life's many questions, so I made these two memes. I hope you like them! :)

The Equality Of All That Is

I think everyone has the right to perceive their life and their presence on this Earth anyway they wish, but I've noticed lately that I've been having an extraordinary number of talks with people who seem to, in one way or another, have somewhat of a "god complex". This phenomenon inspired me to make this meme...

Life Is An Adventure

Life is an adventure and unfortunately one that many people might not even be aware that they're on. To those who have had this wakening revelation though, the world can sometimes seem like a very lonely place, as you step back and watch the surging flow of people all around you, moving subsconsciously about their day, perhaps unaware of the infinite beauty of the reality around them. We all live within the same web of illusion, so it is unlikely that anyone sees the full picture of reality, but every once in a while you can look into the eyes of someone and see the sheer limitless, endless, wonder of the whole universe and know that they too have embarked upon the same self discovering journey of finding out exactly what it means to be alive and why every second of our existence in this life is a thing to be enjoyed...

What Are We Doing?

What are we doing???...This is probably the first question that often comes to mind when someone begins to see the bigger picture of what humanity has done so far with the unfathomably profound gift of consciousness that we've all inherited through billions and billions of years of evolution in this universe. We've traveled across light years of space and were seeded on this planet by the stars to do one thing, to answer the question that's been burning in the mind of the universe itself and the very reason for the existence of everything we could ever know since the beginning of time. I think that this question that the universe has really been trying to solve through all of its infinite expressions of existence is, "What am I?"

I don't even think the universe knows the answer to this question any more than we know what we are, otherwise there would be no purpose for our existence here. It seems to be trying to figure out, through every random occurence it can allow us and everything out there to have, in this existence and every possible parallel one, what it is to exist and how it came to be.

To do this it would have needed to empty out it's conscious awareness of itself completely, the same way that one does when they meditate or when they ingest a psychoactive substance. In order to learn from that which is outside of all known reality and that which only seems to be completely unknowable in our current state of mind, requires that the old state of mind be entirely cleared out of everything it has previously known and experienced so that it can allow those inner parts of itself, of which we are a part, the freedom and universal power to explore and create anything that we can deem possible in our conscious minds. Only then might the source of all things that birthed the universe discover every aspect of what it truly is. In the same way we can connect with our own inner universe by quieting our minds and allowing those deep inner parts of ourselves the freedom to explore and be something new and different and unique, that we might receive a kind of knowledge from beyond the veil that transcends all of space and time.

So, what are we doing with this consciousness we have to wonder? Where are we taking ourselves on this fantastical adventure we call life?  In the past we've established systems of disharmony and separation, world governments and divisive borders and cultures that push us away from each other and strip us of our human link with one another, but overall our lives seem to be perhaps moving towards a greater interconnectedness, as we've painstakingly been learning from our mistakes since the dawn of time.

Here is a video by Terence McKenna that might paint a deeper picture of this process of evolution that we've all been going through...

Coincidence And Synchronicity

In my life, as a general rule, it seems that every single random subject or idea that I focus on presents itself to me again within the next 24 hours. This happens everyday without fail. It happens so often in fact that it often calls into question for me the very concept of what reality must be. Statistically, I think to myself, I must be creating these things within my own reality, so I'm always thinking about how there simply can't be any such thing as "coincidence".

Astrology: Science or Superstition?

Years ago I blindly believed in the relevance and accuracy of astrology. Later I found it to be nothing but illogical superstition and thought myself ridiculous for ever having given it any stock in my life. Then, through science, I realized that everything in the universe was connected and made up of energy and that those energies had certain specific relationships and behaviors towards one other. So then, I thought, why would the energy that makes us up be any different than that of the stars? The ancients knew this, amongst other things. So why has it taken us so long to come to some of the same conclusions?

Regardless, quantum physics has shown that the act of consciously focusing on something actually creates and affects the energy of the world around us, so, by this definition astrology would be just as valid and accurate a method of interpreting life as we consciously believe that it does. Put simply, as conscious co-creators of this reality, whatever we observe from our perspective becomes truth in our sphere of existence.

That being said regarding this image, I most certainly am an "Air" sign, with a touch of "Water" as my Cancer cusp-ness suggests! What about you? :)

Thoughts About Compassion

I've been pondering this question about love for some time now. Not just any love, but the kind of love that drives people to have compassion for complete strangers. I think as children we start out this way, but life can often throw us for a curve. The sheer experience of the environment that we're born into, what we're told and the paths that we choose, often shape us in ways that we couldn't have prepared ourselves for and we forget about that love that seemed to come so naturally to us in the beginning.

I spent many years myself living in what I thought of as hostile environments and situations. I went to these places with a real heart for others, along with, a beautiful sense of humor and all the excitement and fervor of a child. What I quite often found there though, were many angry, defensive, broken people who, more often than not, seemed to want to raise their fists or voices at others in anger, rather than extend their arms for a handshake or a hug. This, ultimately, caused me to find myself in a great struggle to hold on to that innocence and beauty of youth that I felt I had once carried inside, as I became worn down by my surroundings and my own personal trauma seemed to allow me to take in more and more of that negativity, with each passing year .

During those years, however, in the midst of much misery, I discovered that I possessed a very powerful gift. I found that I had an unusual propensity for subconsciously observing my environment, down to the most minute of details often times, and that through extreme empathy, I had been absorbing incredible amounts of energy from even the most subtle behaviors and emotions from people in my environment. I would walk into a room and see immediately that a person in the corner was sad, that another person was anxious, that another wanted to talk to someone, but was too shy or that someone was angry, whether I wanted to or not. I eventually began to realize that this incredible sensitivity had, in part, made my life quite difficult in the past and that, as with many gifts, this had the potential to create pure bliss and harmony in my world or complete chaos and destruction.

I would always feel quite saddened, disappointed or even upset by what I saw in these moments, as it always felt so powerful. Many times I would become so filled with another persons emotions, that I found myself unexpectedly mirroring those feelings, which frequently caused me to become so overwhelmed to the point of not being able to share anything with the world for days at a time. More recently in my life, however, I began thinking more deeply about this concept of true compassion in those moments and a love for all beings, which often reminds me of those bright souls who have found the way to make this happen in their lives. People like Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Jesus, The Buddha, the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King, Joseph Campbell, Manly P. Hall, Desmond Tutu and countless others have chosen to bring that light to the world throughout history and the world is most certainly a better place for it. The Dalai Lama once said, "I have been confronted with many difficulties throughout the course of my life, and my country is going through a critical period. But I laugh often, and my laughter is contagious. When people ask me how I find the strength to laugh now, I reply that I am a professional laugher."

So, why should we reach out to people in this way, we might wonder? What has the world done for me? Why should we want to spread the light of compassion in a world that often seems unkind and, at times, saturated in darkness? Well, I think the answer lies therein. The greatest gift the world can give you is to reciprocate to you the love that you once planted within it as a seed. Without this, love can not grow in one's life. In this way, I think it's truly important that we try to show kindness to others. Even if we don't always particularly agree with other people's ideas and philosophies, I think the trick is learning that that's what makes us all unique. It's also what makes the world more interesting, whereas struggling against the world and the people in it only creates chaos in one's life. Compassion is the key. It's something that we can always use a little more of. Compassion breaks down all those obstacles that we have in life by first showing us that we only have obstacles because we have built up walls within.

 This life can be quite short, especially when seen in light of the billions and billions of years of the existence of the universe. The billions of organisms within a single clump of moss are as much a part of that environment as billions of humans are a part of the planet earth, as much as billions of planets are part of a solar system, billions of solar systems are part of the galaxy and that billions of galaxies are part of the universe. So, what do we do with that mere snippet of time that we have here if we're not looking to make the most of it, if we haven't tried to accept people for who they are or if we haven't understood that we are all in this together? It seems to me, that instead of spending even one moment struggling against one another, that we might instead do better to try and make this life better for everyone and understand that we and everything in this vast universe are now...and have always been...one in the same thing.

Inside The Mind Of The Last Person On Earth...

What if you were the last person on Earth and had been for many years? After awhile, I wonder, would it seem like there was a point to anything? Do people provide 100% of our meaning & purpose for existence? When that last soul passes on, be it animal or human or insect, and no one is left to supply conscious observation to the universe, does all time & space just cease to exist as we know it?
